Ring Sizing Guide
Most people who order a surprise ring get the size right without ever asking. Here are the three ways that work, from most reliable to least, and what to do if you’re still not sure.
How do I find her ring size without asking? Borrow a ring she already wears
The most reliable method. Take a ring she wears on her ring finger (left hand if you know it, either hand works as a close guide) and match it to the chart below with a millimeter ruler across the inside of the band, at the widest point. Even a photo of the ring lying on a ruler will get a jeweler very close.
Trace it
If you can only borrow the ring for a minute, press it into a bar of soap or trace the inside circle on paper twice. Measure the inside diameter of your tracing and match it below.
Ask someone who knows
A sister, a mother, or a best friend often knows her size outright, and they tend to be very good at keeping this particular secret.

If she’s between two sizes, choose the larger one. A ring that’s slightly loose can be sized down more easily than a tight one can be worn.

Fingers change slightly with temperature and time of day, so measure in the evening at room temperature if you can. Wider bands wear a touch more snug than thin ones.
