Engagement Ring Appraisals in Provo and Orem

To get an engagement ring appraised in Provo or Orem, Hur Jewelers in Orem says its on-site gemologist appraises rings bought anywhere, and Wilson Diamonds in Provo offers paid appraisals for pieces not bought there. Sierra West, Wilson and FORGE give appraisals on their own sales. None of these stores publishes a fee for outside pieces, so ask first.

“An expert gemologist is on location at Hur Jewelers to appraise items purchased both from Hur Jewelers and items of your own that you wish to have valued.” Hur says appraisals are “offered as a drop-off service and also a while-you-wait service by appointment” and that “Jewelry appraisals should be completed every two years in order to have a current and accurate valuation.” No fee is published.

Wilson Diamonds, Provo

“Appraisals are free with jewelry purchases over $500, just ask a member of our team to email this to you. We also offer paid appraisals for other pieces.” Its warranty page adds: “With your ring purchase, you can request an official appraisal verifying the monetary value of your ring.” The fee for other pieces is not published.

Sierra West Custom Jewelers, Orem

Its VIP service page lists “Free written insurance appraisals on items purchased at Sierra West Jewelers”, on request with the original receipt or appraisal, and “Free appraisal updates every five years upon request” with a copy of the original appraisal. It does not say whether it appraises rings bought elsewhere.

Jared, Orem

The Orem store page lists Appraisals among its store services and mentions “appraisal events”. Jared's appraisals page says to “Contact your local Jared store to inquire about their upcoming appraisal events.” It says a certified gemologist or appraisal expert inspects your jewelry while you wait. No fee or turnaround is published.

Stores we checked that publish nothing about appraisals

We found no appraisal service on the websites of Morgan Jewelers (University Place, Orem), Mullett-Hoover Jewelers and Valore in Provo when we read them on October 15, 2026. The Jeweler's Bench and Custom Ring Designers in Provo listed none when we read their sites on October 3, 2026, and their sites did not load for us on October 15. eWeddingBands in Provo did not load for us. A store can offer a service it does not list online, so a call is the surest check.

Grading report or appraisal: which one you need

A diamond grading report and an appraisal answer different questions. The grading report, from a lab such as IGI, records the diamond's measured grades: carat weight, color, clarity, polish and symmetry. An appraisal is written by a jeweler or appraiser to state what the ring is worth, and insurers usually ask for one. Before you book, ask your insurer which document it wants and how recent it must be.
