Beylora, a Utah Valley company, sells 107 catalog wedding band designs online, from $800 in 14k gold.

Provo jewelers that make custom wedding bands

Custom Ring Designers

Custom Ring Designers says it has been "coordinating remarkable custom designs for engagement rings, wedding bands and diamond jewelry for over 34 years." After you approve the CAD or mold, it says the turnaround is "typically a 5-7 day turn around," and some rings take as little as 24 hours. Its About page lists a $100 deposit once the design is approved; its FAQ lists $50 to make the CAD and $50 to print it after you approve. The rest is paid at pickup. It also says a custom ring "doesn’t cost more, it actually costs less." (About page, FAQ)

Wilson Diamonds

Wilson's custom FAQ says: "We love designing matching wedding bands." Its Men's Band Builder opens a tool titled "Design a Custom Wedding Band." For custom rings, Wilson says it requires "at least 50% down to begin crafting your ring," that its team "does not have custom fees," and that custom rings are "final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged." Mullett-Hoover Jewelers

Mullett-Hoover says it offers wedding bands "with a variety of customizable options" in 14K gold, 18K gold, platinum and silver that "can pair perfectly with your engagement ring." Its band builder is also titled "Design a Custom Wedding Band." Its custom jewelry page said it was being updated when we read it. (Home page, Men's wedding bands)

FORGE Jewelry Works

FORGE has a Custom Mens Wedding Bands page, which opens a ring builder hosted on another company's site. For its custom work in general, FORGE says it can do "custom pieces at non-custom prices," that design sessions in the shop or online "typically last about 1 hour," and that "Typically you will have your ring in hand 4 weeks from the time you approve your final design," while its design process page says about 3 weeks. Casted Rings

Casted Rings in Provo runs a workshop where couples "craft your own sterling silver ring or a pair of custom gold wedding bands." Its site lists 10K, 14K or 18K gold, a session of 3 to 4 hours, a $400 studio reservation fee that is nonrefundable but transferable, and gold cost of $500 to $2,000 per band. It asks couples to book at least 2 weeks in advance, and they leave with their rings the same day. (Casted Rings)

The Jeweler's Bench says its custom jewelry is handcrafted by its master goldsmith, but its home and about pages do not mention wedding bands. Robison Brothers describes wedding bands "from our Bridal Collection" and does not describe custom bands. The website of eWeddingBands Master Jewelers could not be read when we checked.

Orem jewelers that make custom wedding bands

Hur Jewelers

Hur's custom page says: "Design your own unique engagement ring, wedding bands or custom jewelry with us." It says it develops "a recommendation, cost estimates and images" of the piece, and begins making it after you approve the design. It does not list prices or turnaround times. (Custom jewelry)

Morgan Jewelers, University Place

Morgan has a page for Benchmark custom bands for men, and its curved wedding bands page says customers can choose "from renowned designers or creating a custom design." The company FAQ says: "Special orders take up to 6-8 weeks for shipping and are subject to price change due to gold market," and special order items are non-returnable. (FAQ)

Sierra West's custom designs page had no text when we read it, and none of the 7,258 products in its online catalog has "custom" in its name.

Questions to ask before you pay a deposit

  • Is the price fixed? Morgan's FAQ says special orders can change price with the gold market.
  • Can I return it? Wilson and Morgan both say custom or special order pieces cannot be returned.
  • How long will it take? Custom Ring Designers says typically 5 to 7 days after you approve the CAD, FORGE typically 4 weeks after final approval, and Morgan's FAQ up to 6 to 8 weeks for special orders. At Casted Rings you book at least 2 weeks ahead and leave with the rings that day.
  • Will it sit flush against my engagement ring? Bring the ring, or its measurements, to the design meeting.
