What Tresor Jewelers lists
- Where it is: its story page says Tresor opened in Salt Lake City in 2003 and works from two locations, "the Gateway anchor store, and the Union Heights sister store", and its contact page lists its headquarters at 156 S Rio Grande St and has a form to make an appointment (Tresor story (opens in a new tab), Tresor contact (opens in a new tab)).
- Lab-grown diamonds: its certified lab diamonds page (opens in a new tab) lists loose stones from 0.75ct to 2.00ct in seven shapes, all on sale and before sales tax. A 0.75ct stone is $750 (regular $1,500), 1.00ct is $1,350 (regular $2,700), 1.50ct is $2,050 to $2,100, 1.75ct is $3,000 and a 2.00ct round is $4,100.
- Grades: the round lab-grown product pages say "E Color and VS1 Quality" and "Graded.Certified", and the lab diamonds page says the stones are "certified by gemologist labs". We did not find the name of the grading lab on the pages we read.
- Complete rings: its ready-to-go lab diamond engagement rings page showed no products, and the ring style pages we read show no prices. The loose diamond pages say Tresor will place the stone "with your purchased ring", so the setting is a separate price you ask for.
- Custom work: its custom process page (opens in a new tab) says sketches are done free of charge, then a CAD design, a wax print, casting and finishing.
- Also included: the lab diamonds page says its stones "come with a lifetime warranty", and the round product pages list a free gift box and bag, an appraisal of value and a lifetime warranty certificate. Its engagement rings page says rings are handmade in house in 14kt yellow, white and rose gold, with a natural diamond, moissanite or lab diamond center.
A Tresor loose diamond and a complete Beylora ring, by size
Tresor's prices above are for the diamond alone, before a setting. Beylora's prices are for a complete ring with the setting included, so the comparison below shows how far each budget goes rather than a like-for-like ring.
| Lab-grown round diamond | Tresor Jewelers, stone only, and Beylora, complete ring |
|---|---|
| 1ct | Tresor: $1,350 for the 1.00ct E color, VS1 stone. Beylora: $1,000 before tax for a complete 14k gold solitaire such as Queenstown, center diamond D color, VVS1 or VVS2 |
| 1.5ct | Tresor: $2,100 for the 1.50ct E color, VS1 stone. Beylora: $1,250 before tax for a complete 14k gold solitaire |
| 2ct | Tresor: $4,100 for the 2.00ct stone, grades not read. Beylora: $1,500 before tax for a complete 14k gold solitaire |
At each size, the Tresor stone alone costs more than a complete Beylora solitaire, and the Beylora lab-grown center diamond carries a higher color and clarity grade at 1ct and 1.5ct on paper (D and VVS from IGI, against E and VS1 from a lab Tresor's pages do not name). A Tresor ring would also add the price of the setting, which its site does not list.
