The search results at Morgan Jewelers (University Place) and Jared's site did not load for us. Moissanite or a lab-grown diamond
Moissanite and lab-grown diamond are different materials. A lab-grown diamond is diamond: carbon, 10 on the hardness scale. Moissanite is silicon carbide, 9 and a quarter on the hardness scale, and it spreads light into rainbow colors more than twice as strongly as diamond. Our lab-grown diamond vs moissanite guide compares them side by side, with GIA and FTC sources.
| Compared | Lab-grown diamond | Moissanite |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Diamond: carbon, with essentially the same properties as a mined diamond (FTC) | Silicon carbide, a different gemstone (GIA) |
| Hardness | 10 (FTC) | 9 and a quarter on the Mohs scale (GIA) |
