What Provo jewelers say
FORGE Jewelry Works has the most to say on the pages we read. Its home page says natural diamonds are "always a great choice and traditionally the desired center stone for most brides," and lists lab grown diamonds, moissanite and colored stones as other options. Its Diamond Alternatives post says "Lab diamonds are just that: diamonds." and that lab-grown gives you the benefits of a natural diamond for "generally 30% less cost." Its post comparing moissanite with diamonds closes with "Ultimately, the choice is individual and very personal." See our FORGE Jewelry Works and Beylora comparison.
Wilson Diamonds sells both. Its Lab Grown Diamonds page says "Explore our hand-picked selection of stunning lab-grown diamonds," and its Natural Diamonds page calls them "The original symbol of forever, crafted by nature and made to last." We found no recommendation either way (Wilson Diamonds and Beylora). Mullett-Hoover Jewelers has a page for each kind and lists both on its engagement ring page.
JP Jewelerz, on University Avenue in Provo, offers both. Its FAQ says lab grown and natural diamonds "are visually identical and share the same physical and chemical properties," that "Both are real diamonds," and that lab grown options "typically cost 30 to 50 percent less."
Robison Brothers' Diamond Education page explains grading reports and says "On re-sale of diamond along with its certificate, you will get better price for the diamond." Custom Ring Designers and The Jeweler's Bench did not mention either kind on the pages we read.
What Orem jewelers say
Morgan Jewelers, at University Place, has a Natural vs. Lab Grown Diamonds page. It says the two are visually indistinguishable and "Even trained gemologists find it difficult to distinguish between the two." On price it says "Diamonds produced in a lab are significantly less expensive than mined diamonds." On resale it says "Natural diamonds are rare, therefore accruing more value over time than their lab-created counterparts." Morgan has more than one store, so its pages cover the whole company, not only Orem. See our Morgan Jewelers and Beylora comparison.
Hur Jewelers' only lab-grown listing we found was a pair of hoop earrings. MAGMA Diamonds' ring listings say natural, and Sierra West did not name lab-grown diamonds on the pages we read.
Origin, price, grading and resale
- Origin. Morgan Jewelers says lab-grown diamonds are grown in a laboratory rather than mined, and are chemically identical to mined stones. A lab-grown diamond is not moissanite; our lab-grown diamond vs moissanite guide explains the difference.
- Price. FORGE Jewelry Works, JP Jewelerz and Morgan Jewelers each say lab-grown costs less than natural. On October 13, 2026, the first page of Wilson Diamonds' loose lab-grown diamonds started at $615.00 for a 1.10 carat F VS1 emerald cut lab-grown diamond, and every lab-grown engagement ring on the first page was a setting only, from $758.00.
- Grading. Robison Brothers names GIA, HRD, AGSL and IGI as respected labs and says "This certificate doesn't state monetary value of a diamond." Look up the center diamond's report number on the lab's own website.
- Resale. Morgan Jewelers says natural diamonds accrue more value over time, and Robison Brothers says a diamond resells for a better price with its certificate. If resale matters, ask a store in writing whether it buys back diamonds, and at what price.
